Improve your grip
A golf glove helps keep the club from slipping. In hot or humid weather, it makes holding the club easier. This stops you from squeezing too hard and keeps your hands and arms relaxed.
Stop Blisters
Swinging a club many times can rub your hand. This can cause blisters or soreness. A glove protects your hand and reduces rubbing.
Better Control
A glove helps keep the club steady. It stops the club from twisting in your hand. This is useful in the rain or when your hands are sweaty.
Consistent Swing
A glove helps you hold the club the same way each time. This makes your swing more repeatable. It also helps you hit the ball more consistently.
Protect Your Hands
Gloves protect your hands from small cuts or bumps. This is helpful when hitting from sand or rough grass.
Not all golfers wear gloves. Some feel they have enough grip without one. Wearing a golf glove depends on what feels comfortable and the playing conditions.
Which Hand Wears the Glove?
Most golfers wear a glove on their non-dominant hand. Right-handed players wear it on the left hand. Left-handed players wear it on their right hand. This is called the "lead hand." It helps hold the club and control the swing.
The other hand is called the "trailing hand." It usually does not need a glove. Some golfers wear gloves on both hands for more grip. It all depends on what feels best.
